Westbourne Studio LLC (“Westbourne Studio”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates https://westbournestudio.com (the “Site”). This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Site, why we collect it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices you have. It covers westbournestudio.com and nothing else. It does not apply to any site you reach by following a link away from this one, including the studio’s Instagram profile, each of which has its own policy.
1. Notice at collection
We collect the categories of personal information listed in section 3 at or before the point you provide them, for the purposes listed alongside each category. Westbourne Studio does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Site runs no advertising pixels and no advertising network is present on it. We retain each category for the period stated in section 7. You can read this full policy at https://westbournestudio.com/privacy-policy/.
This section is the notice at collection required by the California Consumer Privacy Act. If you are a California resident, section 8 explains your rights and how to exercise them.
2. Who we are and how to reach us
Westbourne Studio LLC is a single-member limited liability company organized in California, with its principal place of business at 2965 Union Street, San Diego, CA 92103. For any question about this policy or about your personal information, contact info@westbournestudio.com or write to us at the address above. You can also reach the studio by telephone on 858.208.3774.
3. Personal information we collect
We collect the following categories of personal information. Each row lists the category, real examples of what falls in it on this Site, where it comes from, and why we collect it.
| Category | Examples on this Site | Sources | Why we collect it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | The name and email address you type into the enquiry form, and the IP address your browser sends with every request to the site | You, when you submit the enquiry form. Your browser, automatically, on every page request | Replying to your enquiry, and keeping the site secure and available |
| Customer records | Your name, your email address, the project type you select, and whatever you choose to write in the message field | You, when you submit the enquiry form | Understanding and answering your enquiry, and following up about a possible project |
| Commercial information | Not collected. The site sells nothing and takes no payment | Not applicable | Not applicable |
| Internet or network activity | Which pages you viewed, the site that referred you, and your browser and device type | Your browser, automatically, and only after you accept analytics through the cookie banner | Counting visits so the studio can see which work is being looked at |
| Geolocation data | An approximate location, no more precise than a city or region, inferred from your IP address | Inferred from your IP address by our analytics providers after you accept, and by the host in its server logs | Regional traffic figures in the studio’s statistics, and security filtering by the host |
| Audio, electronic or visual information | Not collected. The site records no audio, video or screen activity | Not applicable | Not applicable |
| Inferences | Not collected. The site builds no profile of you | Not applicable | Not applicable |
| Sensitive personal information | Not collected. The site asks for nothing California treats as sensitive personal information: no government identifiers, no financial account details, no precise geolocation, no health, racial, religious or biometric data | Not applicable | Not applicable |
We do not knowingly collect commercial information, biometric information, audio, video or other sensory information, professional or employment information, education information, precise geolocation, or any of the categories California treats as sensitive personal information.
4. How we use personal information
We use the information above to read and answer enquiries sent through the contact form, to keep the Site running and secure, to block spam and automated submissions, and — where you have accepted analytics — to count visits. We also use it to comply with legal obligations and to enforce our Terms of Use. We do not use personal information for a materially different purpose than the one disclosed at collection without telling you first.
5. Cookies, analytics and consent
The Site uses a small number of technologies that either keep it working or count visits. They fall into two groups, and the difference is the whole of how this site handles consent.
Strictly necessary technologies keep the Site working and cannot be switched off. They set no cookies when you simply browse the Site. Cloudflare Turnstile runs on the enquiry form only, and sets its own cookie only when the form is used.
Analytics does not run until you say so. On your first visit a banner asks you to accept or decline. Until you accept, the analytics scripts are delivered inert: they are present in the page but carry no executable type and no address to fetch, so no request is made to any analytics provider and no analytics cookie is set. Accepting turns them on; declining leaves them off. Your choice is remembered in your own browser, and you can change it at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser settings, which brings the banner back. You can also block or delete cookies, and limit what your browser reports, in your browser’s own settings.
The technologies in use on the Site are:
| Tool | Purpose | Category | Provider | Runs before consent? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare Turnstile | Confirms the enquiry form is submitted by a person and not a bot | strictly necessary | Cloudflare, Inc. | Yes, on the contact page only |
| Gravity Forms | Receives and stores enquiry form submissions | strictly necessary | Rocketgenius, Inc. (self-hosted; submissions stay on the site) | Yes |
| Akismet | Scores enquiry form submissions for spam | strictly necessary | Automattic, Inc. | Only when the form is submitted |
| Jetpack Protect | Blocks brute-force login attempts on the administration area | strictly necessary | Automattic, Inc. | No visitor-facing component |
| FlyingPress | Page caching and asset optimization, to make pages load faster | strictly necessary | FlyingWeb (self-hosted; no visitor data leaves the site) | Yes |
| Pressable | Hosting. Processes server logs including IP addresses | strictly necessary | Automattic, Inc. | Yes |
| Google Analytics 4 | Counts visits and page views, via Google Site Kit | analytics | Google LLC | No — blocked until you accept |
| Gauges | Page view statistics provided by the host as part of the hosting platform | analytics | Automattic, Inc. | No — blocked until you accept |
Google Analytics sets its own cookies (_ga and a property-specific _ga_*) once you accept, and not before.
Cloudflare Turnstile. The enquiry form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which runs invisibly: there is no puzzle to solve and nothing appears on screen. To tell a person from a bot it reads signals your browser provides, such as your IP address and basic properties of your browser and device. Cloudflare states that it does not use this to identify individual visitors or to build a profile of them, and that the data is not sold. Cloudflare’s handling of it is described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Policy and Addendum, which forms part of this disclosure.
This table is generated from a tracker audit of the live site and is re-checked whenever a tag is added. If a tool is not listed here, it should not be running.
6. Who we disclose personal information to
We disclose personal information to the categories of recipients below, for the business purposes stated. We do not disclose personal information to anyone not covered by this section.
| Recipient | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Automattic, Inc. | Server logs including IP addresses (Pressable hosting). Enquiry form content submitted for spam scoring (Akismet). Page views and referrer, only if you accept analytics (Gauges) | Hosting, spam filtering, and site statistics |
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Signals your browser provides when the enquiry form is submitted, used to tell a person from a bot. Cloudflare states this is not used to identify you or to build a profile | Bot protection on the enquiry form, through Cloudflare Turnstile |
| Google LLC | Page views, referrer, browser and device type, and approximate location inferred from IP — only if you accept analytics | Site statistics, through Google Analytics 4 |
We may also disclose personal information when required by law, in response to lawful requests by public authorities, to protect our rights or the safety of others, and in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we will state on this page what happened.
In the preceding twelve months, Westbourne Studio has not sold or shared personal information. In the same period we disclosed the following categories for a business purpose: identifiers, customer records, internet or other electronic network activity, and coarse geolocation — each disclosed only to the service providers named above, and only so they can perform the service described. We do not sell or share the personal information of consumers under sixteen years of age, and we have no actual knowledge of ever having done so.
7. How long we keep personal information
We keep each category only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected for, or as long as the law requires. Where a period cannot be fixed in advance we state the criteria we use instead.
| Category | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Enquiry form submissions (name, email, project type, message) | Kept as part of the studio’s business records for as long as the studio is trading. We do not delete these on a schedule: an enquiry can turn into a project years after it was first sent, and the studio keeps its record of who asked about what. You can ask us to delete yours at any time — see section 8 — and we will, unless the law lets us keep it |
| Site statistics (page views, referrers, approximate location) | Held by the analytics providers under their own retention settings and policies. The studio keeps no separate copy |
| Server logs (IP address, request details) | Held by the host for its own operational and security purposes, for the short rolling window its platform applies. The studio keeps no separate copy |
We do not keep personal information for longer than the period disclosed here.
8. Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, you have the following rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended.
Right to know. You can ask us for the categories and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to.
Right to delete. You can ask us to delete the personal information we collected from you, subject to the exceptions the law allows.
Right to correct. You can ask us to correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
Right to opt out of sale or sharing. Westbourne Studio does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. If that ever changes, we will add a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link to this site before it does, and update this policy.
Right to limit the use of sensitive personal information. The Site does not collect sensitive personal information as California defines it, so there is no use of it to limit.
Right to non-discrimination. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you a different price, or give you a different level of quality because you exercised any of these rights.
How to exercise your rights. Email info@westbournestudio.com with the word Privacy in the subject line, or telephone the studio on 858.208.3774. Because the only personal information the Site collects from you is what you typed into the enquiry form, we verify a request by matching it against that record — ordinarily by asking you to make the request from the same email address you used, or to confirm details of the enquiry only you would know. We may decline a request we cannot verify. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf by emailing the same address with written permission signed by you, and we may still contact you to confirm it.
Opt-out preference signals. We treat the Global Privacy Control signal as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information for the browser that sends it. Since we neither sell nor share personal information, the signal makes no practical difference to what this site does with your data.
We will confirm receipt of a request within ten business days and respond within forty-five calendar days, extending once by a further forty-five days where the law permits and telling you if we do.
9. How we protect personal information
The Site is served over HTTPS, hosted on Pressable with the host’s own network and platform protections, kept current on software updates, and administered through a small number of accounts. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, and we do not claim to.
10. Children
The Site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact info@westbournestudio.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our practices change. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top, and where a change materially expands what is collected or who receives it, we will also post a notice on the site itself. The version in force is the one posted on this page.
12. Contact
Questions, requests and complaints go to info@westbournestudio.com, or to Westbourne Studio LLC, 2965 Union Street, San Diego, CA 92103. If you need this policy in another format, email info@westbournestudio.com or telephone 858.208.3774 and the studio will provide one.
